Columbia Mutual Life Insurance Company

The figures above the door of the Columbia Mutual Life Insurance Company were modeled after the children of company president Lloyd T. Binford. Binford also headed the notorious board of film censors which, from 1928 to 1950, banned any movie starring Charlie Chaplin or Ingrid Bergman from playing in Memphis theaters.
